Thank you for the opportunity to present my recommendations for strengthening Schwab’s Challenge Convention. My goal is to transform an already valuable employee event into a signature platform for thought leadership and community engagement.
Project Overview
This presentation outlines a strategic marketing plan developed for ITC Engineering to accelerate business growth, strengthen brand recognition, and establish long-term market leadership in accredited product testing.
The strategy recommends shifting from a reactive sales model to a proactive, integrated marketing and communications program focused on brand strategy, corporate communications, strategic marketing, business development, account management, customer segmentation, thought leadership, digital marketing, public relations, content strategy, SEO, email marketing, social media marketing, trade show marketing, and customer relationship management.
The recommendations also include rebranding the company to create a distinctive market identity, expanding into new geographic markets, developing strategic partnerships, and using integrated marketing communications to increase revenue, deepen client relationships, and position ITC Engineering as the trusted testing partner throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Presentation
Thank you for the opportunity to present my recommendations for ITC Engineering. This strategic marketing plan is designed to help the company achieve sustainable business growth by strengthening its brand, increasing revenue, improving customer engagement, and expanding into new markets. My recommendations combine strategic marketing, brand management, public relations, digital marketing, and business development into a comprehensive roadmap for long-term success.
ITC Engineering has built an impressive reputation over several decades and serves an outstanding roster of clients. However, continued success requires more than technical excellence. The company has an opportunity to strengthen account management, reinforce relationships with existing clients, expand services to additional product lines, attract new customers, and defend against increasing competition. As demand for accredited testing continues to grow, new competitors will inevitably enter the marketplace. The companies that invest in strategic communications, brand positioning, customer experience, and integrated marketing today will be best positioned to lead tomorrow.
Every successful marketing strategy begins by defining the desired outcome. Before selecting tactics, we first establish measurable business objectives, identify where the organization is today, determine where it wants to be, and build a strategic roadmap to close that gap. Marketing should never consist of disconnected activities. Every communication, campaign, and initiative should support broader business goals and contribute to sustainable growth.
This slide translates long-term vision into actionable priorities. Brand development should create a recognizable identity that differentiates ITC Engineering from competitors. Geographic expansion, including a future Atlanta laboratory, supports national growth. Marketing should evolve from reactive to proactive through trade shows, customer segmentation, public relations, digital marketing, SEO, social media, content marketing, and email campaigns. Video storytelling, website modernization, and integrated marketing communications will reinforce credibility while helping prospective clients better understand ITC’s expertise and value proposition.
One of my strongest recommendations is evaluating a new corporate brand. The current ITC name operates in a crowded marketplace with numerous organizations sharing similar names, creating brand confusion and limiting search engine visibility. Developing a unique, ownable brand with an available domain name strengthens brand recognition, improves SEO performance, enhances digital discoverability, and supports long-term marketing efforts. A distinctive brand becomes a competitive advantage that cannot easily be replicated.
Successful business development begins long before a customer is ready to purchase services. By engaging manufacturers at industry events, startup competitions, trade shows, and technology conferences, ITC Engineering can establish relationships at the earliest stages of product development. Building trust early increases the likelihood that companies will continue using ITC throughout future product generations. Tailoring marketing messages to distinct customer segments, such as medical devices, consumer electronics, and component manufacturers, creates more relevant communications and significantly improves customer acquisition and retention.
Marketing is only as effective as the tools that support it. I recommend developing a cohesive suite of marketing collateral that communicates ITC Engineering’s expertise consistently across every customer touchpoint. This includes a modern WordPress website, customer success stories, professionally produced videos, email marketing campaigns, blog articles, social media content, and public relations initiatives. Every asset should reinforce the company’s brand, explain its value proposition, and guide prospective clients toward requesting testing services. Analytics should be incorporated throughout the digital ecosystem so marketing decisions are driven by measurable performance rather than assumptions.
A strong brand extends beyond the services it sells. Hosting electronic waste recycling events positions ITC Engineering as a responsible corporate citizen while supporting environmental sustainability. This initiative creates opportunities for media coverage, community engagement, employee volunteerism, and corporate social responsibility. It also reinforces the company’s reputation as an organization committed to improving both product safety and environmental stewardship. Authentic community engagement builds trust, strengthens brand reputation, and differentiates the company from competitors whose messaging focuses solely on technical capabilities.
The recommendations I’ve shared today are designed to help ITC Engineering evolve from an exceptional testing laboratory into a recognized industry brand. Through strategic marketing, integrated communications, stronger brand management, customer engagement, and proactive business development, the company can strengthen its competitive position and support ambitious revenue growth. My goal is to create a marketing function that becomes a strategic business partner rather than simply a support department.
My career has focused on helping organizations grow through strategic marketing, communications, and brand management. I combine executive-level strategic planning with hands-on execution across content strategy, public relations, digital marketing, creative development, stakeholder engagement, and corporate communications. My MBA in Social Entrepreneurship has also shaped my belief that successful organizations can create measurable business value while making meaningful contributions to the communities they serve.
This diagram illustrates where ITC Engineering creates value within the customer’s product development process. Testing laboratories are not simply vendors performing compliance work. They are strategic partners helping manufacturers identify issues early, improve product quality, reduce risk, accelerate time to market, and increase customer confidence. Understanding this lifecycle also helps marketing communicate ITC Engineering’s value beyond testing by emphasizing partnership throughout product development.
This appendix reinforces one of my strongest recommendations. The ITC name exists alongside numerous organizations with similar names, including competitors operating in adjacent industries and international markets. That creates brand confusion, weakens search engine optimization, and makes it more difficult for prospective customers to discover ITC Engineering online. Establishing a distinctive, ownable brand would improve digital visibility, strengthen brand equity, support long-term reputation management, and create a foundation for future marketing initiatives.
This comparison illustrates how crowded the ITC name has become internationally. Multiple companies operating in engineering, testing, and certification already use similar branding. From a marketing and brand strategy perspective, this makes differentiation increasingly difficult and can dilute search engine performance. A distinctive brand identity improves discoverability, strengthens market positioning, and creates long-term competitive advantage.
This search result demonstrates the digital challenge facing the company today. Prospective customers searching for ITC encounter numerous unrelated organizations before finding ITC Engineering. Search engine optimization begins with a strong brand, but it must also be supported by content marketing, technical SEO, public relations, backlinks, and ongoing thought leadership. Improving online visibility makes customer acquisition more efficient while strengthening brand awareness.
This slide reinforces the same conclusion from another perspective. Brand confusion creates friction throughout the customer journey. Every additional click required to find the company represents a potential lost opportunity. Strategic marketing should reduce that friction by making ITC Engineering easier to discover, easier to remember, and easier to recommend.
The website should become the centerpiece of ITC Engineering’s integrated marketing strategy. Beyond presenting technical capabilities, it should communicate the company’s story, showcase customer success, highlight industry expertise, and demonstrate why manufacturers trust ITC throughout the product development lifecycle. A modern website supported by search engine optimization, compelling copywriting, customer testimonials, video, and clear calls to action becomes one of the company’s most effective business development tools.
Outcome
I created this presentation as part of the interview process for a Marketing Manager role with ITC Engineering. The project demonstrates how I approach strategic marketing by combining market analysis, brand strategy, business development, integrated marketing communications, customer segmentation, public relations, digital marketing, and long-term growth planning into a cohesive business strategy.
Although the opportunity ultimately did not result in an offer, projects like this allow me to continually refine my thinking, strengthen my strategic marketing and communications expertise, and develop practical recommendations that help organizations increase brand awareness, improve customer engagement, and accelerate sustainable business growth.
If your organization is hiring for marketing, communications, brand strategy, or corporate communications leadership, I’d welcome the opportunity to discuss how this type of strategic thinking can help achieve your business objectives.
